It is a $12 billion a year industry that has its fingers in everything from retail, to broadcasting, to film, to tourism, and to the Internet. Internet wagering is under fire from Washington, with the House of Representatives likely to vote soon on legislation that could permanently end Americans participation in the industry. As the day of the potential vote looms closer, the American Gaming Association urges Congress to reconsider the benefits that would come with legalizing online gambling and taking part in regulating the industry on American soil. Following a change in classification in Washington state, which makes participating in online poker a felony offense, the industry holds its breath waiting to see in which direction the pendulum of US law will swing.
